Virginia-based engineering and consulting firm to create 80 new jobs
RICHMOND, Va. (July 21, 2026) — Hepburn and Sons LLC will invest $18.1 million to establish a new corporate headquarters in Prince William County, creating 80 jobs and expanding Virginia’s growing defense technology sector.
The Virginia-based engineering and consulting firm plans to develop a three-story, approximately 27,000-square-foot facility on 1.25 acres along Discovery Boulevard in Innovation Park. The headquarters is expected to be fully operational by summer 2028.
The new facility will serve as an innovation hub supporting the development of advanced defense technologies and will help the company meet increased demand across its defense contracting portfolio.

Founded by the Hepburn family in Manassas in 2010, Hepburn and Sons provides technology development, mission systems and advisory services to commercial clients, government agencies and U.S. military customers.
The company specializes in helping clients move emerging technologies from research and development into mission-ready deployment. Veterans make up the majority of its existing workforce, which includes former military officials, engineers and defense industry leaders.

Prince William County approved the sale of the county-owned site in June 2026, paving the way for the headquarters development near NOVA LIVE and within the Nexus234 Innovation District.
“Buildings don’t create legacies; the people inside them do,” said Deshundra Jefferson, chair-at-large of the Prince William County Board of County Supervisors. “We’re excited to welcome the Hepburn family to Innovation Park and the greater Nexus234 Innovation District.”
Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade Carrie Chenery said the project reflects the advantages companies find in the Commonwealth’s workforce, infrastructure and collaborative defense industry network.
“Hepburn and Sons’ new headquarters and innovation hub will emerge at the intersection of a strong community, a talented workforce and an advanced technology and defense ecosystem that will allow the company to grow well into the future,” Chenery said.
Tom Gordy, Brentsville District supervisor for the Prince William County Board of County Supervisors, said the company’s expansion will help shape the community’s economic future.
“We are proud to provide the freedom to imagine what’s possible and the opportunity to help shape this community for years to come,” Gordy said.
Delegate Josh Thomas described the project as an example of state, local and private partners working together to support business expansion in Prince William County.
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Prince William County to secure the project. The Commonwealth will support the company’s hiring and workforce training efforts through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
Governor Spanberger also approved a $400,000 Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund grant to assist Prince William County with the project.
