Veteran-founded digital solutions firm will invest $849,000 to establish a dedicated innovation and engineering office in Reston
RICHMOND, Va. — Data Machines, a veteran-founded technology firm providing customized, data-driven solutions to government and civilian customers, will expand its headquarters in Reston, Virginia, creating 75 new jobs.
The company plans to invest $849,000 to establish a dedicated innovation and engineering office and expand its existing Fairfax County footprint. The additional space will support Data Machines’ growing workforce and its work on critical government and national security missions.
“Data Machines’ decision to continue to invest in Virginia is a testament to our people, our talent, and our status as a top state for business,” Gov. Abigail Spanberger said. “As cybersecurity and national security become ever more related, companies like Data Machines are rising to the challenge to deliver innovation, and it’s Virginians who are making that possible.”
Data Machines Expands Technology Operations in Reston
Founded in 2016, Data Machines develops technology-agnostic solutions tailored to its clients’ operational needs. The company specializes in:
- Artificial intelligence
- Cloud infrastructure
- Data analytics
- Cyber defense
- Software engineering
- Modeling and simulation
The headquarters expansion will more than double the company’s existing footprint, providing additional room for engineering, collaboration and technology development.

Quinn added that the expansion will allow Data Machines to continue developing the collaborative and innovative culture that has shaped the company while increasing its impact for clients and the nation’s warfighters.
Virginia’s Technology Workforce Supports Company Growth
Data Machines’ continued investment highlights Northern Virginia’s concentration of technology professionals, federal agencies, research organizations and government contractors.

Fairfax County officials said the expansion reinforces Reston’s position as a destination for innovative technology companies supporting federal and national security missions.
“Data Machines has built something exceptional in Fairfax County, and we are proud that Reston will serve as homebase for its next chapter,” Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeffrey C. McKay said.
“This expansion is a strong vote of confidence in the assets that make Fairfax County an ideal location for innovative companies: a highly skilled workforce, world-class infrastructure, and close proximity to the federal partners they support. We are grateful for Data Machines’ important work to help keep our nation safe and congratulate the entire team on this continued growth.”
Expansion Brings New Technology Jobs to Fairfax County
The 75 new positions will contribute to the continued growth of Fairfax County’s technology and government services sectors.

Delegate Karen Keys-Gamarra also welcomed the company’s decision to grow in Reston.

Virginia Jobs Investment Program Supports Expansion
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority to secure the project for Virginia.
VEDP will support Data Machines’ job creation through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program. VJIP provides consulting services and funding to companies creating new jobs to help offset employee recruitment and training expenses.
The state-funded program is designed to reduce the human resources costs associated with new and expanding businesses while improving employment opportunities for Virginia residents.
