Columbus, Ga. (May 18, 2026) — HK USA, the American subsidiary of Germany-based Heckler & Koch, is expanding its operations in Columbus with a $13 million investment that will create 35 new jobs, reinforcing Georgia’s position as a growing center for advanced manufacturing, defense-related industries and sporting goods production.
The expansion builds upon a two-decade presence in Georgia for HK USA, which established operations in Columbus in 2005 and currently employs approximately 115 workers.
State officials say the latest investment further demonstrates the state’s ability to attract and retain manufacturers seeking strong workforce pipelines, transportation infrastructure and a supportive business climate.
Gov. Brian Kemp, said: “HK USA has been supporting quality jobs for Georgians for more than two decades, and we are grateful to see this relationship continue to benefit the Columbus community.”
Gov. Kemp added: “Georgia remains the top destination for a wide range of industries — including defense and sporting goods — because of our world-class logistics network, our pro-business environment and top-tier talent across the state.”
The company’s Columbus facility, located on Transport Boulevard, manufactures products serving military, law enforcement and civilian markets worldwide.
Company officials credited Georgia’s workforce development infrastructure and local partnerships as key factors supporting continued growth.
Michael Holley, Chief Executive Officer of HK USA, said: “From day one, the dedication of our Georgia-based team, along with the support of workforce partners including Georgia Quick Start, the Technical College System of Georgia and the Choose Columbus retention program, has played a vital role in our success.”
Holley added: “Being part of Georgia’s defense and sporting community is a natural fit for us, and the Georgia Made® program gives us a meaningful way to celebrate our team and the quality products we’re proud to make here at home.”
Local leaders noted the investment’s broader significance to the regional economy and manufacturing ecosystem.
Skip Henderson, Mayor of Columbus, said: “HK USA has been a great community partner, and we are thrilled that they have chosen to further invest and grow in Columbus, Georgia.”
Selvin Hollingsworth, Chairman of the Development Authority of Columbus, added: “This expansion is a strong signal that Columbus continues to be a place where businesses can grow and succeed.”
State economic development officials also emphasized the long-term value of international investment and industry partnerships.
Pat Wilson, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, said: “HK USA has established itself as a high-quality job creator and key industry in west Georgia’s economic landscape. We look forward to continuing to work with the company and community for more decades to come.”
The project was supported through partnerships involving the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Choose Columbus, Georgia Power and workforce development organizations including Georgia Quick Start and the Technical College System of Georgia.
HK USA’s latest expansion adds to Georgia’s continued momentum in advanced manufacturing and defense-related sectors, industries that remain key drivers of investment and job creation throughout the state.
