S Link America is Creating Over 500 Jobs
In a major boost to Georgia’s advanced manufacturing sector, Governor Brian P. Kemp announced today that JS Link America Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Korean biotech and magnet technology firm JS Link, will invest approximately $223 million to establish a rare earth permanent magnet manufacturing facility in Columbus. The project is expected to generate more than 520 new jobs in Muscogee County.
“JS Link America strengthens Georgia’s role in securing the U.S. supply chain in industries such as aerospace, mobility, and energy,” said Governor Kemp. “We are excited for the continued growth of manufacturing in west Georgia, and congratulations to Columbus-Muscogee County for this opportunity.”
Founded in 2000, JS Link has evolved from a biotechnology innovator into a global player in permanent magnet production—critical components used across sectors including automotive, wind energy, robotics, consumer electronics, and defense. The company is nearing completion of a similar facility in Yesan, Korea, with pilot production slated for September and an annual output of 1,000 tons.
The Columbus facility, located at Muscogee Technology Park, will span 130,000 square feet and is projected to reach an annual production capacity of 3,000 tons. Operations are scheduled to begin in late 2027, with hiring underway for engineering, production, construction, administrative, and management roles. “From day one, Georgia’s economic development team, local leadership in Columbus, and Georgia Power welcomed JS Link with a pro-business approach,” said Jun Y. Lee, CEO of JS Link America Inc. “We plan to build a value chain focused entirely on Western nations, sourcing rare-earth materials from strategic allies like Korea and manufacturing magnets for high-demand industries.”
Local leaders praised the announcement as a transformative win for the region:
“These high-quality career paths will benefit the workforce here in Columbus and across the region,” said Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson. “Our educational institutions remain committed to preparing a workforce for today’s and tomorrow’s high-tech environment.”
“We are proud to welcome JS Link to our corporate community,” added Selvin Hollingsworth, Chairman of the Development Authority of Columbus. “This facility will have a significant impact on our regional economy.”
The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) supported the project through its Global Commerce team, in collaboration with Choose Columbus, Georgia Quick Start, and Georgia Power.
“Permanent magnets are essential in everything from electric vehicles to jet engines and drones,” said GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson. “Developing this technology in the U.S. strengthens our national security and economic resilience. We’re proud that JS Link America has chosen Georgia for its first U.S. manufacturing facility.”
