The City of Live Oak continues to experience remarkable economic growth, marked by key business relocations, expansions, and infrastructure investments that reinforce its reputation as a premier destination for commerce and community development.
Among the most anticipated additions to the city is Dick’s House of Sport, set to open in the expansive Live Oak Town Center. This immersive shopping experience is expected to redefine retail in the region, with completion slated for late fall 2025. Live Oak Town Center, at the vibrant NE San Antoni intersection of Loop 1604 and IH-35, will incorporate +/- 870,000 sf of retail, restaurants, entertainment, and lodging. The center will benefit from the incredible draw of its anchor, South Texas’ only IKEA store.
Meanwhile, the healthcare sector is seeing substantial advancements with Methodist Hospital Northeast expanding its footprint through the addition of a new medical office building at Plaza II within Live Oak’s growing medical district serving the northeast region of Bexar County. The construction of Plaza I, set to be located adjacent to Plaza II, is on the horizon, further enhancing the city’s medical infrastructure.
Additionally, Alterman Inc., one of Texas’ largest electrical contractors, has relocated its headquarters from San Antonio to Live Oak in 2024. The company has ambitious plans for expansion, including the construction of two additional buildings on its 18-acre campus, reinforcing Live Oak’s status as a strategic hub for major enterprises.
The city’s ongoing success, however, is driven by more than just business-friendly policies. Live Oak’s commitment to public safety, community development, park system enhancements, and workforce retention plays a vital role in sustaining this economic momentum. The city remains steadfast in fostering strong business relationships and providing a foundation for sustainable growth.
As Live Oak continues to welcome new projects that stimulate economic activity and tourism, the city embraces the next few years as a time of transformation. With a focus on innovative retail concepts, technological advancements, and strategic developments, Live Oak is poised to shape the next generation of economic experiences.
