“We are thrilled with the vote, this is a major step forward for the city of Frederick,” said Mark Matan, Principal for the Matan Companies. “The Renn Farm rezoning represents the culmination of over 10 years worth of public and private efforts to create a revitalized Downtown with a major walkable neighborhood.”
The 220-acre Renn Farm site, previously zoned for light industrial use, will now be transformed into a vibrant, walkable, mixed-use community with residential, retail and entertainment components, highlighted by a new trail which will connect east Frederick to Downtown via shared-use paths along Carroll Creek and Monocacy Boulevard. “The Renn Property will nicely compliment Historic Downtown Frederick and will enable residents to experience a true live, work, play community,” said Karl Morris, Director of Development for the Matan Companies.
“Downtown Frederick offers everything Georgetown or Old Town Alexandria have,” said Mark Matan, “but in a much more affordable suburban setting.”
