Plans Nearly 300 New Jobs in Oklahoma
TULSA, Okla. (Feb. 3, 2026) — Global advanced manufacturing firm Mecad USA has selected the Tulsa Port of Catoosa as the site of its U.S. headquarters and primary operations hub, a strategic investment expected to create nearly 300 new jobs in northeastern Oklahoma.
The company cited Oklahoma’s pro-business climate and recent energy policy advancements — including the state’s 2025 behind-the-meter legislation — as key factors in its decision. The law enables manufacturers to develop on-site power generation and storage systems, supporting flexible, resilient and cost-effective energy strategies.
“We are excited to make the Tulsa Port of Catoosa the foundation of our U.S. growth,” said Candido Romero, CEO of Mecad USA and Mecad del Valles SL. “The flexibility provided by Oklahoma’s new behind-the-meter law significantly de-risks our energy strategy. Combined with the Port’s infrastructure and the state’s transportation network, the site is ideally suited for our next phase of innovation.”
Advanced Manufacturing Hub for North America
Mecad USA specializes in precision components, industrial automation and advanced engineered systems serving aerospace, energy and high-tech manufacturing markets. The Port of Catoosa facility will support the company’s North American customer base with access to multimodal logistics, regional supply chains and Oklahoma’s expanding manufacturing ecosystem.
The project will create high-quality positions across engineering, production, maintenance, technical and administrative roles. Hiring is expected to begin in mid-2026, with a strong emphasis on workforce partnerships and specialized training in automation, additive manufacturing and systems integration.
“It’s been an extraordinary year for economic development in Oklahoma, and companies continue to recognize our state as a top destination to start and grow a business,” said John Budd, CEO of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. “With affordable energy and business-friendly policies, Oklahoma is an ideal home for next-generation manufacturers like Mecad USA.”
Energy Policy and Infrastructure Drive Site Selection
A major driver behind Mecad USA’s investment is Oklahoma Senate Bill 480, enacted in 2025, which allows industrial and commercial users to operate behind-the-meter energy systems without public utility regulation. The policy enables manufacturers to tailor energy generation to operational needs, improving reliability, lowering costs and supporting sustainability goals while reducing interconnection delays.
The Tulsa Port of Catoosa’s direct access to rail, barge and highway infrastructure further strengthens the site’s appeal for both manufacturing and distribution. Mecad’s campus will incorporate advanced automation, testing capabilities and systems assembly in a scalable environment designed for long-term growth.
