ANNISTON, AL (Mar. 30, 2026) — M&H Valve is strengthening its manufacturing footprint in Anniston with a multi-phase investment exceeding $19 million, advancing the facility’s capabilities through automation, equipment upgrades and expanded production capacity.
The latest phase includes a $7.6 million investment in automated production systems designed to improve efficiency, precision and workflow across the operation. The initiative is part of a broader modernization strategy by parent company McWane Inc., reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to U.S.-based water infrastructure manufacturing.
Over the past year, M&H Valve has implemented a series of capital projects to enhance performance and reliability at the Anniston facility. These include a previously announced $6.9 million expansion that added CNC machining equipment, blast systems and additional production space, as well as a $4.9 million upgrade to foundry operations featuring advanced core-making and material handling technologies.
The new automation systems will replace legacy machinery that has been in service for more than two decades, improving uptime, streamlining production flow and supporting higher-quality output. Collectively, the investments position the facility to meet growing national demand for critical water system components.
State and local leaders highlighted the strategic importance of the project for Alabama’s advanced manufacturing sector.
“Continued investment in advanced production technologies demonstrates how Alabama manufacturers are evolving to compete in increasingly technical industries,” said Alabama Secretary of Commerce Ellen McNair. “These upgrades not only enhance operational performance but also strengthen opportunities for a highly skilled workforce.”
Local officials echoed that sentiment, noting the project’s impact on long-term economic stability in the region. Leadership from the Calhoun County Economic Development Council emphasized that sustained capital investment supports both job retention and future workforce development in precision manufacturing.
M&H Valve currently employs more than 320 workers in Anniston and remains a key producer of fire hydrants and water infrastructure components within McWane’s national manufacturing network.
With construction and installation ongoing through 2026, the upgrades are expected to further enhance production efficiency, improve safety standards and ensure the facility remains competitive in delivering essential infrastructure products to communities across the United States.
