Lewistown, PA — During its quarterly Board of Directors meeting on October 29th, the Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation (MCIDC), presented a check for $8,500 to its regional marketing partner Focus Central Pennsylvania (Focus). Representing eight counties (Mifflin, Centre, Juniata, Snyder, Union, Northumberland, Montour and Columbia) in Central Pennsylvania, Focus is a nonprofit that dedicates 100 percent of its time and resources to attracting corporate investment to the region to create quality, family sustaining careers.
MCIDC Board Chair Ruth Eddy stated “Promoting and positioning our region for job creation and growth is an important component of the MCIDC’s multi-faceted economic development mission. We strongly support effective efforts to raise the visibility of Mifflin County and all of central Pennsylvania before site selectors and corporate decision makers.”
MCIDC President/CEO Nick Felice added “Focus is an integral part of our overall economic development marketing strategy. It greatly increases our outreach capabilities by pooling resources with our neighboring counties. In rural Pennsylvania, our workers are used to commuting some distance for meaningful employment. These opportunities are often in neighboring counties. If Mifflin County is unable to offer the right building or development site, perhaps Centre, Snyder or Juniata counties have a suitable space. If they land a project, Mifflin County residents can benefit from increased employment opportunities.”
Focus Central Pennsylvania’s Executive Director Lauren Bryson said “Focus Central Pennsylvania’s mission is to attract quality investment and career opportunities to Mifflin County and Central Pennsylvania. We provide MCIDC with the resources and support needed to be competitive and effectively ensure that Mifflin County is on the radar of quality companies searching for their next expansion and growth location. The $ 8,500 supports our continuing efforts to tell Central Pennsylvania’s story as being a great place to do business. Focus greatly appreciates MCIDC’s continuing commitment to our organization.”

As a partner, MCIDC receives multiple marketing resources, quality leads from companies interested in the region, marketing support, research data, online property database, regional collaboration and overall support on business attraction projects.

Regional organizations are valued by companies and site location consultants for the collaboration and quality, timely responses to support their project and search efforts. Promoting on a regional level provides more resources dedicated to professional, effective marketing efforts to generate more quality leads.
