LANSING, Mich. (November 6, 2025) — Miller Industries, LLC, a Michigan-based manufacturer specializing in modular building systems and custom steel fabrication, has announced a $43 million expansion in Fenton Township, Genesee County, with support from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). The project will create at least 167 new good-paying jobs with an average starting wage of $25 per hour, well above the regional median.
This marks Miller Industries’ second expansion in three years, underscoring its strong commitment to Michigan’s manufacturing future and the state’s growing advanced industrial base.
Expanding Michigan’s Advanced Manufacturing Capabilities
“This announcement by Miller Industries will bring hundreds of good-paying, local jobs to Michigan,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. “The $43 million expansion will result in a new facility that supports the production of cutting-edge technology. With this investment, we’re showing the world that Michigan is on the move and open for business.”
The project will include construction of a 270,000-square-foot manufacturing facility designed to serve high-growth industries such as semiconductors, electrical substations, and energy systems, producing precision-engineered modular components critical to those sectors.
“Miller Industries’ decision to expand in Fenton reflects their deep commitment to the community and the strength of our state’s manufacturing workforce,” said Matt McCauley, Senior Vice President of Regional Development at MEDC. “Their continued growth exemplifies what it means to be Making It in Michigan.”
A Family-Owned Manufacturer Driving Regional Growth
Founded in 2014, Miller Industries is a family-owned and operated company that provides modular building systems, including e-houses, chiller and boiler plants, steel fabrication, and conveyor systems, as well as representing national brands in HVAC technologies.
“This project marks another great step in our continued partnership with the State of Michigan,” said Chad Miller, Co-CEO of Miller Industries. “We’re proud to be part of a shared commitment to innovation, job creation, and strengthening Michigan’s manufacturing future.”
Strengthening Fenton Township and Flint & Genesee County
The Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance and local officials praised the expansion as a major win for the region.
“We’re proud that Miller Industries is continuing to invest in Flint & Genesee with its second expansion within three years,” said Tyler Rossmaessler, Executive Director of the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance. “This investment will bring more jobs, boost local industry, and help drive us toward our Forward Together vision of becoming a top-five county in Michigan by 2040.”
Vince Lorraine, Supervisor of Fenton Township, added:
“Miller Industries has demonstrated a long-term commitment to our community. Their latest expansion will add substantial manufacturing and office capacity, generating hundreds of quality jobs and strengthening economic activity along the Thompson Road corridor.”
Economic Impact and Community Support
The expansion represents $43 million in capital investment and will generate 167 new positions, supported by a $1 million performance-based Michigan Business Development Program grant from the MEDC.
The Charter Township of Fenton also offered a PA 198 tax abatement for up to 12 years, valued at approximately $6 million, while the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance will assist with talent recruitment and expedited permitting.
The project directly supports Michigan’s manufacturing supply chain while advancing environmentally conscious operations. It will benefit several of the state’s focus industries, including automotive, technology, and logistics. With Genesee County’s unemployment rate currently at 6.9%, local leaders expect the new facility to have a significant positive economic impact.
