A New Catalyst for Regional Growth and Innovation
COVINGTON, KY — September 12, 2025 — Today, state and local leaders gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the OneNKY Center, a transformative new facility in Covington that brings together ten leading Northern Kentucky organizations focused on business development, tourism, innovation, and community advancement. The center marks a major milestone in the region’s collaborative efforts to drive economic growth and position Northern Kentucky as a hub for life sciences and entrepreneurship.
Located at the foot of the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, the OneNKY Center is now home to organizations including BE NKY Growth Partnership, LifeSciKY, meetNKY, Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, and Thomas More University’s Division of External Affairs. The project was developed by Corporex, with Paul Hemmer Co. serving as the prime contractor.
“The OneNKY Center is a perfect example of what it means to be part of Team Kentucky,” said Governor Andy Beshear. “This facility will support existing biotech companies, attract new innovators, and create high-wage jobs and cutting-edge treatments right here in the commonwealth.”
LifeSciKY Lab: A New Frontier for Biotech
A key feature of the center is the LifeSciKY Lab, made possible by a $15 million allocation during the 2022 Regular Legislative Session. LifeSciKY offers affordable, fully equipped lab space with shared instrumentation, operational support, and workforce training programs. The lab connects students, researchers, and entrepreneurs to hands-on experiences in the life sciences, helping to cultivate Kentucky’s next generation of biotech talent.
“This lab is more than a facility—it’s a promise that Kentucky will lead the way in life sciences and advanced research,” said Dr. Christin Godale, Executive Director of LifeSciKY.
A Vision Realized Through Collaboration
The OneNKY Center broke ground in August 2023 and held its topping-out ceremony in June 2024. The project was made possible through a blend of state, local, and charitable funding, and reflects decades of vision and planning.
“This center represents the collaboration that makes Northern Kentucky a hub for growth and innovation,” said Senator Chris McDaniel. “It’s a catalyst for new partnerships and long-term prosperity,” added Kenton County Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann. “Covington is proud to be the economic engine driving this regional transformation,” said Mayor Ron Washington.
“After more than 40 years as a vision, the OneNKY Center is now a reality,” said William P. Butler, Founder and CEO of Corporex. “We’re grateful to the leaders and organizations who made this possible.”
