Company to consolidate operations, expand product lines, and strengthen Kentucky manufacturing presence
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 18, 2025) — Governor Andy Beshear announced continued momentum in Kentucky’s manufacturing sector as Midwest Equipment Manufacturing Inc. revealed plans to invest $15 million to expand operations in Maysville. The project will create 66 new, skilled jobs and establish the facility as a central manufacturing hub for several of the company’s product lines.
“Kentucky’s manufacturing industry continues to be a powerful driver of our state’s economic success,” said Gov. Beshear. “Companies like Midwest Equipment Manufacturing are choosing to invest in the commonwealth because of our skilled workforce and pro-business environment. This $15 million investment and 66 new jobs will bring lasting benefits to Mason County, and I want to thank the company for choosing to grow in our New Kentucky Home.”
Midwest Equipment Manufacturing plans to expand production at its Maysville facility to help alleviate labor shortages and production backlogs impacting other locations. The site will support both existing operations and the relocation of multiple product lines from out-of-state facilities. Initial transitions will include the Tru-Cut Mower product line and the 500 Series Brown Bear Composter, which will relocate from Thorntown, Indiana. Additional product lines slated for transition include Trac Vac Lawn Vacuums, Tru-Cut Reel Mowers, Brown Bear Aerators, Broyhill Golf Course Equipment, Packer Brothers Plate Compactors, Power Tek Rental Wood Chippers, Load and Pack Refuse Equipment, and Arrow Master Concrete Breakers.
Alongside these relocations, the company plans to increase sales of its existing product lines while introducing new products to support future growth.
“We are excited to move Tru-Cut Mower production to Maysville,” said Dan Kallevig, president of Tru-Cut Mowers. “After spending time in the community over the past few months, I’ve been impressed by the welcoming spirit of the people and the strong foundation for manufacturing success here.”
Midwest Equipment Manufacturing is a family-owned company led by Dan and Renee Kallevig, who bring more than two decades of manufacturing experience. Founded more than 20 years ago as Packer Brothers Inc., the company has evolved from product importation and domestic assembly into a multi-facility operation focused on producing high-quality, American-made equipment. Today, Midwest Equipment Manufacturing operates facilities in Dakota City, Nebraska; Brooten, Minnesota; Thorntown, Indiana; and soon, Maysville, Kentucky.
Local leaders praised the project’s impact on the community and the region’s manufacturing base.
“We are thrilled to welcome Midwest Equipment Manufacturing to Maysville,” said Mason County Judge/Executive Owen McNeill. “This $15 million investment and more than 60 new jobs further strengthen our manufacturing footprint and support continued revitalization of Maysville’s historic East End. We are grateful for the collaboration among state, local, and private partners that made this project possible.”
Maysville Mayor Debra L. Cotterill emphasized the project’s alignment with ongoing community development efforts. “The city of Maysville is proud to support Midwest Equipment Manufacturing’s relocation and expansion,” Cotterill said. “This investment reinforces the positive momentum in our East End neighborhood while creating high-quality jobs that support our residents and local economy.”
Tyler McHugh, executive director of the Maysville-Mason County Industrial Development Authority, highlighted the long-term benefits of the project. “Midwest Equipment Manufacturing’s decision to locate in Maysville reflects confidence in our workforce, infrastructure, and quality of life,” McHugh said. “This project represents a meaningful reinvestment in our downtown manufacturing corridor, and we look forward to the company’s long-term success in our community.”
