SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (October 21, 2025) – Process Machinery Inc. (PMI), a leading manufacturer of conveyor systems and aggregate plants, has officially broken ground on a nearly $11.5 million expansion at its Shelbyville facility. The project will create 30 new well-paying jobs and further strengthen Kentucky’s advanced manufacturing sector.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Rocky Adkins, Senior Advisor to Governor Andy Beshear, alongside local and company leaders who celebrated PMI’s continued investment in the Shelby County community.
“Kentucky’s thriving manufacturing sector relies on trusted industry leaders like Process Machinery Inc. continuing to grow and invest here,” said Gov. Andy Beshear. “PMI has been a long-time contributor to the Shelbyville community, creating quality jobs for Kentuckians. I want to thank the company’s leadership for their ongoing commitment to our state.”
“This expansion is more proof that Kentucky is a leader in manufacturing,” said Rocky Adkins. “Strong companies like PMI are reinvesting here, creating opportunity and supporting families across the commonwealth.”
Announced in April, the expansion will add more than 28,000 square feet to PMI’s existing facility to accommodate rising demand and business growth over the last decade. The three-phase project, expected to be completed by the end of 2026, includes new site development, a state-of-the-art paint facility, expanded manufacturing and office space, and additional equipment upgrades.
“Today’s groundbreaking marks an exciting milestone in PMI’s journey,” said Jennifer Miles Ratterman, Executive Vice President of PMI. “This expansion will allow us to create more jobs, strengthen our operations and continue supporting the vibrant community of Shelby County. We’re proud of our team and thankful to all who helped make this vision possible.”
Founded in 1979 by David Miles and his father William Miles, PMI designs and manufactures custom conveyor systems and advanced aggregate plants engineered to improve efficiency in transporting sand, stone and gravel for quarry operations. The family-owned company currently employs 90 Kentuckians and remains committed to innovation and community growth.
Local officials praised the company’s expansion as a testament to the region’s strong workforce and business environment.
- “We’re proud to see Process Machinery continue to invest and expand in Shelby County,” said Shelby County Judge/Executive Dan Ison. “This project highlights our community’s skilled workforce, competitive business climate and the trust that industry leaders like PMI have in our region.”
- “When local companies reinvest in their communities, it strengthens our economy and builds lasting partnerships,” said Shelbyville Mayor Troy Ethington. “Process Machinery’s success reflects the dedication and innovation of its people. We’re proud to celebrate this milestone and look forward to the growth it brings to Shelbyville and beyond.”
