Project to create more than 1,300 jobs and further revitalize former GM assembly plant
SHREVEPORT, La. — SLB announced today a $30 million investment to expand its operations in Caddo Parish, strengthening the company’s role in the global hyperscaler supply chain and reinforcing Louisiana’s growing advanced manufacturing and digital infrastructure ecosystem.
The expansion will double SLB’s footprint at its technology center located at 7600 Antoine Blvd. in Shreveport, continuing the transformation of the former General Motors assembly plant into a state-of-the-art, climate-controlled manufacturing hub. Construction is expected to begin in January 2026, with staffing increases planned through 2027 as new space becomes operational.
In addition to its current workforce of 660 employees, SLB expects to create 600 new direct jobs. Louisiana Economic Development (LED) estimates the project will also generate 744 indirect jobs, bringing the total economic impact to 1,344 potential new job opportunities across Northwest Louisiana.
“Across the country, companies are searching for places that can deliver industrial capacity and a skilled workforce to compete in today’s economy, and Louisiana is answering that call,” said Governor Jeff Landry. “SLB’s continued investment in Northwest Louisiana reinforces that Louisiana is a place where global companies grow, succeed, and choose to compete at the highest level.”
Expanding Capacity for Data Centers and Digital Infrastructure
The expansion will add new manufacturing space to support increased production of digital infrastructure and data center equipment, enabling SLB to meet rising global demand while strengthening long-term operations in Shreveport.
“Shreveport has become a strategic hub for our expanding role in the hyperscaler ecosystem,” said Andrew Johnston, Data Centers Director at SLB. “Expanding our footprint here is a natural next step. Louisiana offers the workforce, infrastructure, and partnership we need to grow, and we’re proud to deepen our investment in a region that continues to deliver for our business and our customers.”
SLB has invested more than $18 million in its Shreveport operations to date, with the new project building on that foundation by significantly expanding capacity and capabilities at the site.
State and Local Support Fuels Growth
To secure the project, the State of Louisiana offered a competitive incentives package, including LED FastStart®workforce development services and a $6 million performance-based grant for utility and infrastructure improvements. The company is also expected to participate in the state’s Quality Jobs Program.
“SLB’s expansion illustrates how investment in data infrastructure and advanced manufacturing continues to create new opportunities for our workers,” said LED Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois. “Projects like this strengthen Louisiana’s economic ecosystem and position our state for long-term growth in high-demand industries.”
Local leaders echoed the importance of SLB’s continued growth in the region.
“SLB is a great corporate citizen of Caddo Parish, and its efforts benefit the people and the City of Shreveport,” said Mayor Tom Arceneaux. “We welcome this expansion, which will bring more jobs and more prosperity to our community.”
“SLB’s decision to double down in Shreveport is a strong vote of confidence in Northwest Louisiana’s workforce and industrial capacity,” said Justyn Dixon, President and CEO of the North Louisiana Economic Partnership. “This expansion reinforces our position as a competitive player in the global digital infrastructure and advanced manufacturing economy.”
