Timberlab is a trailblazer in the mass timber sector and is launching a project that can help shape the future of construction, as well as make a significant positive impact on the environment.
Timberlab, a subsidiary of the 100% employee-owned company Swinerton has fabrication facilities in Portland, Oregon, and Greenville, South Carolina. They supply premium engineered wood products across the U.S. The Portland location has already played a vital role in major projects like the Portland International Airport Terminal Redevelopment, where they fabricated over 35,000 individual pieces for the structure. With average wages well over the state’s average, Timberlab is not only creating top-tier products but also providing well-paying, meaningful jobs in Oregon.
Continuing its support for Oregonians and our state’s economy, Timberlab is building a new CLT (cross-laminated timber) manufacturing facility in Millersburg, Oregon. This state-of-the-art facility will meet the growing demand for sustainable construction materials, producing 100,000 cubic meters of finished CLT products annually. At full capacity, it will create approximately 100 new manufacturing jobs.
Timberlab is also investing in the next generation of Oregonians working in mass timber manufacturing. The company is launching scholarship and grant programs to support students pursuing degrees in engineering, architecture, and forestry. They’ll also offer internships for students to gain hands-on experience, combining on-the-job training in their facilities with classroom education.
Business Oregon’s Regional Development staff have been working with the company and local officials to see the project happen in Oregon. This project is strongly supported by various state and local programs, including Business Oregon’s Strategic Reserve Fund and Special Public Works Fund, Oregon Department of Transportation’s Immediate Opportunity Fund, the Long-Term Rural Enterprise Zone, and the Regionally Significant Industrial Site program.
