The new designation recognizes the site as development-ready and confirms it has met enhanced due diligence and infrastructure standards designed to accelerate project timelines for companies seeking new locations.
“Achieving GRAD Select status sends a strong message to companies and site selectors that this property is ready for investment and growth,” said Pat Wilson, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “Through strong local commitment and continued state support, Liberty County is well positioned to attract advanced manufacturing, logistics, and other high-value projects.”
Located in Liberty County, the 1,224-acre industrial property sits south of Midway along U.S. 17, roughly one mile south of the U.S. 84 intersection, with Interstate 95 approximately five miles east. Planned primary access will come from U.S. 17, and the site is adjacent to the Riceboro Southern Railway, offering multimodal logistics advantages.
Tradeport West has also benefited from a $2 million OneGeorgia Authority Rural Site Development Initiative grant. The funding will support 7,000 feet of new access road construction, utility extensions, and preparation of 170 acres of industrial land over the next year.
“Tradeport West remains a top expansion priority for Liberty County,” said Al Williams, State Representative and LCDA Board Chairman. “This certification reflects years of strategic investment and collaboration to create a speed-to-market industrial park capable of supporting higher-wage job creation.”
County leaders say the site has already generated strong interest from large-scale manufacturing prospects.
“Liberty County is proud to have developed this tremendous asset and excited about the role it can play in strengthening our economy,” said Donald Lovette, Chairman of the Liberty County Board of Commissioners and LCDA Board Member. “Its strategic location between the Port of Savannah and Port of Brunswick, combined with workforce resources from Fort Stewart and the surrounding region, makes it highly competitive.”
The GRAD program helps communities and landowners prepare industrial sites for rapid development by requiring comprehensive due diligence, third-party review, and final approval by a board of economic development professionals. GRAD Select status indicates a site has met even more rigorous certification standards.
Georgia currently offers more than 70 GRAD-certified industrial sites statewide and has committed more than $21 million through the Rural Site Development Initiative to help rural communities prepare new locations for business growth.
