What was once a possibility is now a sure thing. Buc-ee’s is coming to Goodyear for its first location in Arizona and Western United States. The company has closed on the purchase of the land on the southeast corner of Bullard Avenue and Interstate 10. Buc-ee’s followers in Arizona were thrilled to learn earlier this year that the world-famous travel center was considering Goodyear, citing the company’s beaver mascot, massive footprint, unique snacks and cleanliness.
“This is huge milestone for the project and I couldn’t be more excited that Buc-ee’s has chosen Goodyear,” said Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo. “It’s more than just a gas station or a convenience store. Buc-ee’s will provide our residents with what they’ve been asking for – which are more options – and that’s what they’ll get as our city continues to grow.”
Buc-ee’s has a massive following and has become a selfie spot of sorts, priding itself for having the world’s largest convenience store and the cleanest restrooms in America. It’s known for being a one-stop-shop, where customers can stop to fuel up – and at some locations charge their EV and get a car wash — and pick up breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as party supplies and kitchenware. Unique items that customers can find at Buc-ee’s include smoked brisket, Beaver Nuggets, fudge and never-ending options at the “wall of beef jerky.” The company also often sources its products from local vendors and artisans in an effort to represent the local community. Buc-ee’s has become a destination for travelers, and will generate revenue in Goodyear which contributes to the city’s General Fund to support key city services like public safety and parks.
The Goodyear travel center will have 120 fueling stations for passenger vehicles only (no tractor trailers/semi-trucks) with an approximately 74,000-square-foot convenience store, and would measure about 23% larger than a football field. Buc-ee’s Goodyear will bring more than 200 full-time jobs to the area, with starting pay beginning well above minimum wage, full benefits, a 6% matching 401k, and three weeks of paid vacation. Buc-ee’s travel centers are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
