Automotive supplier adds production capacity for conventional and hybrid vehicle components in Indiana.
MUNCIE, Ind. — November 4, 2026 — Astemo Indiana plans to invest more than $11 million in its Muncie manufacturing operation, adding equipment and production capacity in Delaware County.
The expansion includes additional injection molding capacity and a new assembly line producing intake manifolds for internal combustion engine and hybrid electric vehicles.
Expansion Builds on Established Indiana Operations
Established in 1999, Astemo’s Muncie facility employs approximately 188 associates, about 70% of whom live in Muncie. The company anticipates additional hiring but has not announced a specific job-creation target.
The Muncie City Council approved a five-year tax abatement to support the investment. The Economic Development Alliance of Muncie–Delaware County also worked with company leadership and government partners on the project.
Supporting Automotive Manufacturing Growth
The investment aligns with Delaware County’s focus on transportation equipment and mobility manufacturing, identified as a priority sector in its recent Target Industry Study.
