The 18-acre park adds recreation and community gathering spaces in Warrick County with support from Indiana’s READI program.
NEWBURGH, Ind. — Indiana Gov. Mike Braun joined community leaders to open the new $13 million Ohio Township Park in Newburgh, bringing 18 acres of recreation and green space to Warrick County.
The completed park includes a playground, splash pad, outdoor fitness stations, pickleball and basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, and trails for biking, walking and running. A pavilion, picnic areas and shelters provide additional gathering spaces for residents and visitors.
Indiana’s Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative, known as READI, contributed $3 million toward the pavilion and picnic and shelter areas. Construction began in 2024.
“This new, transformational park adds to Warrick County’s offerings for residents while creating a draw for visitors and the surrounding region,” Braun said.
New Park Connects Residents to Southwest Indiana Amenities
Ohio Township Park is located approximately one mile east of Interstate 69, alongside the Ohio Township Fire Station and Community Center. It connects to the Warrick Wellness Trail and is near shopping, restaurants, hotels and workplaces.
The park’s mix of recreational facilities and community spaces is intended to serve residents across Newburgh and the surrounding Southwest Indiana region throughout the year.
Indiana Secretary of Commerce Chuck Goodrich said the park supports the region’s ability to retain and attract workers.
“Today’s grand opening is the celebration of an asset that supports quality of place in Southwest Indiana and advances our ability to retain and attract top talent in all corners of the state,” Goodrich said.
READI Investment Supports Regional Growth
Indiana’s $1.25 billion READI program supports regionally led strategies to strengthen communities, attract and retain talent, and expand opportunities for residents.
Southwest Indiana received $95 million in READI 1.0 and READI 2.0 matching funds, along with additional project support through Lilly Endowment Inc. grant funding. The regional initiative includes Gibson, Posey, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties.
The region’s projects focus on priorities that include public amenities, housing, healthier communities, high-paying jobs and opportunities associated with the Interstate 69 Ohio River Crossing.
