Groundbreaking ceremony announced for distribution center in Harlingen, TX
Harlingen, Texas – CARDONE Industries, Inc., a global leader in the automotive parts industry, announced plans to build a state-of-the-art distribution center in the Harlingen Industrial Park. CARDONE will make history as the largest industrial project to ever break ground in Harlingen, Texas.
Construction of the new facility will commence following a formal groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, Dec. 4 at 9 a.m., at 815 FM 509, Harlingen, TX 78550. Operations are expected to begin in Summer 2018. The facility is expected to be finished in December 2018.
The new distribution center is intended to support growing production at the company’s manufacturing facilities, one of which is located just across the U.S./Mexico border in Matamoros, and will be constructed with the capacity for future expansion as needed.
“As CARDONE continues to grow, we need to augment our distribution and logistics capabilities in order to handle our increasing volume and the growing number of product lines.” said Stan Gowisnock, CARDONE Industries CEO. “Having this new distribution center in close proximity to our South manufacturing facilities will help us get those products in our customers’ hands quicker than ever before.”
“CARDONE Industries has been a top performing business in the Harlingen Industrial Park for more than 10 years, and we are excited to have the opportunity to continue working with them on this expansion,” said Chris Boswell, City of Harlingen Mayor. “The expansion will positively impact our community by creating new jobs that will directly impact many families from Harlingen and the surrounding areas.”
The Harlingen Economic Development Corporation, the City of Harlingen and Cameron County each played a vital role in the decision-making process to ensure that the distribution center breaks ground in Harlingen.
“The cooperation displayed throughout the entire process by each party involved – CARDONE Industries, the Harlingen EDC, the Harlingen City Commission and the Cameron County Commission – is ultimately what made this project possible,” said Dr. Gilbert Leal, HEDC Board President. “With continued collaboration, I’m certain we’ll see many more projects develop in our region.”
“CARDONE is making history in Harlingen, and we know that Harlingen is the perfect location for them to expand,” said Raudel Garza, Harlingen EDC CEO. “We are excited to see the positive impact their presence will make on the city of Harlingen and the entire region. This is the kind of project that generates a positive impact locally and shows the world that Harlingen has something special to offer.”
“CARDONE Industries has had a significant presence in Cameron County for many years now, and we are excited to be a part of their newest project. We express this excitement for many reasons, but most importantly for the positive impacts that will be generated,” said Eddie Trevino, Jr., Cameron County Judge. “In addition to Harlingen, a positive impact will be noticed by all of Cameron County as well as our neighbors to the south in Mexico. We are happy that CARDONE Industries has chosen Cameron County as place to do business.”
CARDONE has also worked in collaboration with the Port of Brownsville and the Port of Harlingen to make arrangements to utilize Foreign Trade Zone No. 62, one of the largest in the U.S. and the largest in Texas. CARDONE will utilize the Port to transport goods from their manufacturing facilities in Mexico, in the United States and throughout the world.
Along with its facilities in Philadelphia, Texas, Los Angeles, Canada and Mexico, CARDONE added operations in Vancouver, Phoenix, Seattle, Toronto, Spain and China through its recent acquisition of ADP Distributors and Rotomaster on November 20, 2017.
The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the distribution center on Monday, Dec. 4 at 9 a.m. at the Harlingen Industrial Park, 815 FM 509, Harlingen, TX 78550.
