Advanced automotive glass production to support next-generation EV and mobility manufacturing across the U.S.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 2025) — Carlex Glass America will expand its advanced manufacturing operations in Davidson County, investing more than $55 million to add next-generation production lines at its Nashville facility. The expansion will create 143 new high-skill jobs and position the site as the only end-to-end precision-formed automotive glass production operation of its kind in North America.
Scheduled for completion in mid-2026, the project will enable Carlex to produce larger, more complex glass components for automotive OEMs, including windshields, panoramic roofs, sidelights, and backlights.
The announcement was made by Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, Deputy Governor and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter, and Carlex leadership.
Strengthening Tennessee’s Automotive and Advanced Manufacturing Competitiveness
Carlex has been a cornerstone of Tennessee’s manufacturing economy since 1958 and continues to supply major global automakers with U.S.-made products. The company’s reinvestment reinforces Nashville’s role as a high-tech production hub within the state’s broader automotive and electric-vehicle supply chain.
“The state with the workforce will win the future, and I’m proud to announce this investment in one of Nashville’s longstanding manufacturing facilities,” said Gov. Bill Lee. “I thank Carlex for its continued investment in our state and commitment to creating greater opportunity for Tennesseans.”
“Tennessee’s position as a hub for automotive and advanced manufacturing continues to drive innovation and economic growth,” said Stuart C. McWhorter, TNECD Commissioner. “Carlex is a trusted partner in building on that momentum, and we’re confident this investment will strengthen our workforce and reinforce Tennessee’s reputation as a place where companies innovate and grow.”
Company Leadership: Technology Investment Positions Nashville for Global Growth
Carlex CEO Ramzi Hermiz emphasized that the expansion solidifies the company’s long-standing roots in Middle Tennessee.
“This year marks nearly seven decades of our company serving as an anchor for the broader Nashville economy, and we are thrilled to further strengthen our roots here via this investment,” Hermiz said. “We have an amazing team in Nashville, and together, they have made our facility the ‘best-in-class’ glass manufacturer for the world’s leading automakers.”
Regional Partners Support Expansion
The project is supported by Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), Nashville Electric Service, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Nashville Area Chamber, and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.
“It’s always an exciting day when we can celebrate a company’s commitment to continued growth in the region,” said John Bradley, Senior Vice President of Economic Development, TVA.
State legislators echoed the impact for workforce and investment.
“For more than 30 years, Carlex has viewed Tennessee as a valuable partner in the company’s growth, and clearly that trust continues with this new expansion,” said Rep. Vincent Dixie (D-Nashville). “This latest investment will result in more than 140 new jobs in House District 54.”
