Carencro project will expand precision manufacturing capacity for aerospace, space and defense markets
CARENCRO, La. (September 3, 2026) — Coastal Machine & Supply Inc., a Medora Manufacturing company, will invest $25.5 million to expand its Lafayette Parish operations, adding new manufacturing capacity as the company grows its presence in the aerospace, space and defense sectors.
The project is expected to create 129 direct jobs while retaining 58 existing positions. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the expansion will also support 111 indirect jobs, bringing the total potential employment impact to 240 new job opportunities across the Acadiana Region.
The expansion will take place at Coastal Machine & Supply’s existing facility in Carencro and will begin with a 20,000-square-foot addition, followed by as much as 100,000 additional square feet developed in future phases.
Construction is expected to begin in fall 2026, with the first phase scheduled for completion before August 2027.
Expansion Targets Aerospace, Space and Defense Manufacturing
Founded in Carencro in 2004, Coastal Machine & Supply initially built its business around the Gulf Coast oil and gas industry.
Over the past two decades, the company has expanded its capabilities into precision manufacturing for mission-critical applications across the aerospace, space and defense industries.
“Louisiana’s greatest strength has always been the people and businesses that know how to build, adapt and innovate,” said Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois.
“For more than two decades, Coastal Machine & Supply has built on its roots in Louisiana’s energy industry to develop advanced manufacturing capabilities that now serve aerospace, space and defense.”
The new space will increase Coastal’s ability to manufacture large, complex precision components while supporting additional engineering and workforce needs.
Coastal Builds on Louisiana Manufacturing Expertise
Coastal specializes in large, complex turning and 5-axis milling for demanding applications in defense, space and oil and gas markets.
CEO Kody Guidry said the company made a strategic decision several years ago to apply the precision manufacturing expertise developed in Louisiana’s energy sector to new high-growth industries.
“Six years ago, Coastal made a deliberate bet: that the same precision, discipline and workmanship that served the Gulf’s energy industry could serve the nation’s space and defense programs,” Guidry said.
“That bet is paying off.”
Guidry said the expansion reflects growing demand from customers as well as confidence in Acadiana’s manufacturing workforce.
Acadiana Strengthens Advanced Manufacturing Base
Local leaders said the project reinforces Lafayette Parish’s growing position in advanced manufacturing.
“Coastal Machine & Supply’s $25.5 million expansion is another strong vote of confidence in Lafayette Parish and the skilled workforce that continues to drive our economic momentum,” said Lafayette Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet.
The expansion also comes as Louisiana continues to attract new investment tied to aerospace, space and defense manufacturing.

State Incentives Support Carencro Expansion
To secure the project in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana offered Coastal Machine & Supply a competitive incentives package that includes workforce development support through LED FastStart.
The company is also expected to participate in Louisiana’s High Impact Jobs and Industrial Tax Exemption programs.

Coastal Machine & Supply Positions for Long-Term Growth
