LAFAYETTE, La. – October 2, 2025 – DMR Technologies, a global leader in unmanned aerial systems (UAS), announced plans to establish its first full-scale U.S. drone manufacturing facility in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana. The investment will transform a renovated 10,000-square-foot facility at 105 Dorset Avenue into the company’s primary domestic production hub, supporting next-generation aerospace and advanced manufacturing growth in the Acadiana region.
The project is expected to create 521 direct new jobs with average annual salaries of $85,000, more than 150% above the parish average wage. With an additional 766 indirect jobs projected by Louisiana Economic Development (LED), the facility could generate over 1,287 total new job opportunities in the region over the next decade.
DMR’s Lafayette operation will integrate flight control printing, rotor manufacturing, assembly, quality control, and logistics staging under one roof. In its first year, the site is expected to produce between 500 and 1,000 units of the company’s flagship Field Ranger X50 drone for commercial, defense, agriculture, and public safety applications.
Leaders Celebrate a Transformative Win for Louisiana
“Louisiana is competing to win in next-generation industries like aerospace, defense and advanced technology,” said Governor Jeff Landry. “DMR’s decision to manufacture here is a vote of confidence in Louisiana’s workforce, our pro-growth policies, and the momentum we are building statewide.”
David Wang, Co-founder and CEO of DMR Technologies, emphasized Lafayette’s strategic advantages:
“Louisiana has proven to be an ideal partner. Lafayette offers the talent, infrastructure, and policy environment we need to ramp up quickly and operate with efficiency. More than drones, we’re building a resilient, future-focused U.S. supply chain.”
Ryan Case, Co-founder and Head of U.S. Operations, added:
“Being located in Louisiana gives us a strong logistics footprint to serve both U.S. and international clients. Our Lafayette facility eliminates lead time issues and delivers next-day fulfillment for many of our customers.”
A Regional Partnership to Drive Growth
The project is supported by Louisiana Economic Development, Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA), and OneAcadiana, alongside state incentives including LED FastStart workforce solutions and a $1 million performance-based grant for leasehold improvements and equipment.
“By targeting companies at the intersection of key industries, Louisiana is strengthening its competitive position nationally and globally,” said LED Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois. “DMR’s investment is a powerful example of our 9×90 economic growth plan in action.”
Local officials highlighted the broader impact:
Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet, Lafayette:
“Creating more than 500 jobs will bring real opportunities for our families, friends, and neighbors. This is the kind of project that helps Lafayette grow, diversify our economy, and stay on the cutting edge of technology.”
Mandi D. Mitchell, President & CEO, LEDA:
“DMR’s investment aligns perfectly with multiple of our target industries, including advanced manufacturing and aviation. Their presence will help diversify our economy while supporting critical sectors such as agriculture, defense, and public safety.”
Troy Wayman, President & CEO, OneAcadiana:
“Welcoming DMR Technologies highlights the strength of Acadiana’s business climate and the partnerships that make growth possible. This project brings new technology, new jobs, and new opportunities for collaboration with our universities and industries.”
