More progress is coming to the North Industrial Park. The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (EEDC) is proud to announce the exciting expansion of Nicho Produce, a local produce company. This development marks a significant milestone in Edinburg’s economic growth, bringing numerous job opportunities and reinforcing the EEDC’s commitment to fostering a thriving business community. This expansion will not only contribute to the local economy but also create more opportunities for the community. Nicho Produce’s growth will result in the creation of 91 jobs, with 79 being retained and an additional 12 created.
Tommy Villarreal, President & CEO of Nicho Produce, is spearheading the construction of a state-of-the-art 50,000-square-foot cold storage facility aimed at elevating their existing Edinburg operations. This ambitious expansion is slated to unfold on a generous 9-acre parcel within the North Industrial Park, underscoring Nicho Produce’s unwavering commitment to its community. The deal for this project was formally sealed on September 12, 2023, and the expansion will be situated at North Industrial Park Lots 1 and 2.
“After 53 years of growth and community support, Edinburg’s North Industrial Park was the natural choice for our construction and expansion needs,” Villarreal said. “With 50,000 sq. ft. at our disposal, we’re investing in our future right where our roots were planted. It’s about hometown pride and a promising future all under one roof.”
The capital investment for this expansion is estimated to range from 3 million to 4 million, solidifying Nicho Produce’s commitment to excellence and its dedication to serving the Edinburg community.
“We are excited to welcome Nicho Produce to our North Industrial Park,” Roland Gomez, Vice President of the EEDC Board, said. “Their expansion marks an exciting chapter in our community’s economic development. This exemplifies our commitment to fostering growth within the food processing sector.”
The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation is proud to support and facilitate the growth of local businesses like Nicho Produce.
