COVINGTON, Ky. – Governor Beshear highlighted continued growth in Kentucky’s technology sector as Global Business Solutions (GBS) announced a $6.8 million expansion in Northern Kentucky, retaining 57 highly skilled jobs and establishing its corporate headquarters in Covington.
“The continued growth of our technology industry is helping keep highly skilled, good-paying job opportunities for Kentuckians right here at home,” said Gov. Beshear. “This project is a strong example of what collaboration and strategic partnerships can create across the commonwealth.”
GBS has acquired the historic Wadsworth Electric Manufacturing building in downtown Covington, positioning the company for its next phase of growth. The expanded facility will provide significantly more space for operations, including training and collaboration areas, testing labs, a technology showroom and enhanced warehousing and logistics capabilities to support system staging and deployment.
The new headquarters also will support expanded workforce development initiatives, including internships and co-op programs in partnership with local institutions such as Northern Kentucky University and Gateway Community & Technical College.
Founded in 1995 in a Covington garage, GBS has grown into a fully integrated technology solutions provider offering services across IT, audio/visual integration, automation, physical security, structured cabling and AI consulting.
“This acquisition represents an exciting next chapter for GBS,” said founder and president Gaby Batshoun. “What began as a small operation in a garage has grown into a company focused on solving complex technology challenges. Expanding in Covington brings us back to where it all started while positioning us for future growth.”
“This facility allows us to create an environment built for innovation, collaboration and hands-on testing,” added Kevin Brummer, director of strategy. “It enhances our ability to deliver better results for clients while advancing our work with emerging technologies.”
Local and regional leaders emphasized the project’s impact on the Northern Kentucky economy.
- “Global Business Solutions’ decision to grow here reinforces Northern Kentucky’s position as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Kenton County Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann.
- Covington Mayor Ron Washington added: “GBS returning to its roots in Covington speaks to the momentum we’re building as a center for technology and innovation. This investment strengthens both our economy and our historic business districts.”
Lee Crume, CEO of the BE NKY Growth Partnership, noted the region’s strong outlook for tech-sector growth, with employment projected to increase significantly through the end of the decade.
The project is supported by the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority, which preliminarily approved GBS for up to $30,000 in tax incentives through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act. The program allows companies to recoup sales and use tax on eligible project costs.
GBS’s expansion adds to Kentucky’s ongoing economic momentum, with the Beshear administration announcing more than 1,300 private-sector projects totaling over $48 billion in investment and tens of thousands of new and retained jobs statewide.
