Creating Up to 500 Jobs
RALEIGH, N.C. (January 9, 2026) — Johnson & Johnson, one of the world’s largest and most diversified healthcare companies, is expanding its footprint in North Carolina with plans to build a new multibillion-dollar manufacturing facility in Wilson County, creating up to 500 new jobs.
The announcement marks the company’s second major investment in Wilson in just over a year. In October 2024, Johnson & Johnson unveiled plans for a $2 billion manufacturing campus in the county that is currently under construction and expected to employ more than 420 people. Hiring for advanced manufacturing roles at that facility is already underway.
“Johnson & Johnson’s continued investment underscores North Carolina’s strength as a destination for life sciences innovation and manufacturing,” said Governor Josh Stein. “Our skilled workforce and commitment to specialized training continue to deliver the talent companies need to develop and produce life-saving treatments for patients across the country and around the world.”
Expanding Advanced Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
At the newly announced Wilson facility, Johnson & Johnson will manufacture state-of-the-art medicines focused on oncology and neurological diseases, further reinforcing North Carolina’s leadership in advanced biopharmaceutical production.

The investment adds momentum to the state’s globally recognized life sciences sector, which includes more than 800 companies employing over 75,000 North Carolinians.
“Johnson & Johnson’s decision to deepen its presence in North Carolina is a strong vote of confidence in our state and in the workforce that powers our life sciences economy,” said Christopher Chung, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC). “This project highlights Wilson County’s emergence as a hub for high-quality manufacturing jobs and reinforces North Carolina’s position as a leader in life sciences.”
Continued Growth Across North Carolina
Wilson County is one of several North Carolina communities benefiting from recent Johnson & Johnson investments. In August 2025, the company announced a $2 billion biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Holly Springs, expected to create 120 jobs over the next decade.
The Wilson County project is supported by a broad coalition of state, regional, and local partners, including the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, North Carolina General Assembly, North Carolina Biotechnology Center, North Carolina Community College System, North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, Wilson Community College, BioPharma Crescent, Wilson County, Wilson Economic Development Council, and the City of Wilson.
