Global Electronic Connector Leader to Create 80 Jobs with Advanced Automated Production Campus
GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. — JST Corp. has selected Guntersville for a $500 million advanced manufacturing investment that will create 80 new jobs and significantly expand the company’s North Alabama footprint.
The Japan-based company will construct a new 540,000-square-foot automated production facility in the Conners Island Business Park, located near Lake Guntersville.
The project marks JST’s first major investment in the southeastern United States and further strengthens Alabama’s position as a destination for advanced manufacturing and global industrial growth.
Advanced Automation Facility to Support High-Tech Manufacturing
According to company officials, the new Guntersville campus will feature AI-driven automation across all major production processes, including:
- Injection molding
- Stamping
- Plating
- Connector assembly
- Cable assembly
The development will also include a separate 10,000-square-foot sales, marketing and engineering center adjacent to the production facility.
In addition to the 25 existing JST employees already operating in Guntersville, the expansion is expected to add 80 new positions initially, including engineering and professional roles.
Alabama Wins Major Global Manufacturing Project
State leaders said JST’s decision reflects Alabama’s workforce strength, pro-business climate and growing reputation in advanced manufacturing.
Kay Ivey said the investment demonstrates the dedication of Alabama workers and the strong partnerships built between companies and local communities.
Alabama Department of Commerce also praised the project as another example of innovation-driven investment reaching communities across the state.
Strategic Location Supports Automotive and Industrial Growth
JST said the Guntersville location offers strategic access to Alabama’s expanding automotive manufacturing sector and the broader Southeast industrial market.
The company’s electronic connectors are widely used in industries including:
- Automotive
- Consumer electronics
- Appliances
- Medical devices
- Robotics
- Transportation systems
- Gaming and amusement equipment
- Business equipment
With Alabama serving as a major automotive production hub, the expansion positions JST to support growing OEM and supplier demand throughout the region.
Facility Design to Preserve Natural Setting
Company officials said the Conners Island site was selected not only for logistics and workforce advantages, but also for its natural environment.
The facility will incorporate architecture focused on blending industrial development with environmental stewardship, preserving much of the surrounding property near Lake Guntersville.
Plans also include retaining the cross-country course currently used by Guntersville High School for regional athletic events.
