LEXINGTON, Tenn. (October 15, 2025) — Nidec Power, a division of Nidec Motor Corporation, announced plans to expand its manufacturing operations in Henderson County, Tennessee, with a $52.4 million investment that will create 200 new jobs. Once complete, the project will bring Nidec’s total employment in the region to over 600 Tennesseans.
The expansion at Nidec’s Lexington facility will enhance production efficiency and capacity to meet growing global demand for advanced alternators used in data centers, hospitals, defense systems, and other critical power applications.
“Tennessee’s strong manufacturing foundation and pro-business climate continue to attract international investment,” said Governor Bill Lee. “Nidec’s expansion is transformative for Henderson County and will create new opportunities for families across rural Tennessee.”
TNECD Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter added, “Nidec’s decision reflects Tennessee’s global reputation as a hub for industrial innovation and manufacturing excellence.”
Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Kyoto, Japan, Nidec has grown into the world’s leading electric motor manufacturer, employing more than 100,000 people in over 40 countries. The company’s U.S. headquarters is based in St. Louis, Missouri, with operations across North America.
“Nidec’s success is built on our talented team in Lexington,” said David Strohsack, President of Nidec Power. “We are honored to invest in a community that has supported our growth and helped us serve customers around the world.”
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), Lexington Electric System, and the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) partnered to support the project, which strengthens Tennessee’s position as a leader in advanced manufacturing and global supply chain innovation.
