Strengthening Louisiana’s Engineering and Construction Sector
BATON ROUGE, La. (October 27, 2025) – Orion Engineers + Constructors announced plans to relocate its corporate headquarters from Theodore, Alabama, to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, marking a major milestone in the company’s 25-year history. The move reflects Orion’s commitment to growth, innovation, and long-term investment in Louisiana’s engineering and construction ecosystem.
The relocation will create 50 new direct jobs with an average annual salary of $100,000, more than 150% above the East Baton Rouge Parish average wage, while retaining 45 existing positions. According to Louisiana Economic Development (LED), the project is expected to generate 61 additional indirect jobs, for a total of 111 new opportunities in the Capital Region.
“Orion Engineers + Constructors’ decision to relocate its headquarters to Louisiana is a strong vote of confidence in our state’s skilled workforce and pro-business climate,” said LED Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois. “It reflects the progress we’re making through our 9×90 Plan to expand professional and technical services and reinforces Louisiana’s reputation as a destination for innovation and long-term business success.”
The company will invest more than $5 million in capital and technology upgrades to establish its new Baton Rouge headquarters, which is scheduled for completion by June 2030.
“Relocating our headquarters to Baton Rouge represents an exciting new chapter for Orion,” said Billy Novak, P.E., PMP, President and CEO of Orion Engineers + Constructors. “This move enhances our ability to serve clients nationwide, attract top talent, and deepen our commitment to the communities where we operate.”
Founded in 2001, Orion Engineers + Constructors delivers integrated engineering and construction services for clients across the manufacturing, energy, refining, chemicals, life sciences, government, and renewable sectors. The firm provides end-to-end project support—from front-end design and engineering to construction and commissioning—earning a reputation for reliability, quality, and repeat business.
“We are proud to welcome Orion Engineers + Constructors to the City of St. George,” said Mayor Dustin Yates. “Their decision to establish headquarters here highlights our community’s strength and growing appeal for corporate investment.”
“This relocation brings quality jobs, innovation, and long-term economic growth to our region,” added East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sid Edwards. “We’re excited to see Orion become part of Baton Rouge’s business landscape.”
To secure the relocation, the State of Louisiana offered a competitive incentive package, including participation in the Quality Jobs program and a $500,000 performance-based grant.
“Our region’s world-class engineering programs and workforce pipeline make Baton Rouge a natural fit for Orion’s headquarters,” said Lori Melancon, President and CEO of the Greater Baton Rouge Economic Partnership. “We look forward to supporting their continued success and expansion.”
