Investing $120 Million and Creating 392 New Jobs;
Global automotive manufacturers SODECIA and AAPICO partner to supply advanced ladder frames for Scout Motors’ new production center
COLUMBIA, S.C. — SODECIA AAPICO Joint Venture (Sodecia Aapico JV) has announced plans to establish its first South Carolina operation in Orangeburg County, a $120 million investment that will create up to 392 new jobs and directly support the supply chain for Scout Motors, the automotive company reviving the iconic American Scout brand in nearby Blythewood.
The new 400,000-square-foot facility—located at 4100 St. Matthews Road in Orangeburg—will manufacture advanced ladder frames primarily for SUV and truck platforms. Construction is expected to be completed in 2027, positioning the joint venture as a key supplier for Scout Motors’ new Production Center and strengthening South Carolina’s growing automotive ecosystem.
A Strategic Partnership Supporting Automotive Growth in South Carolina
SODECIA and AAPICO—both global, family-owned Tier 1 automotive suppliers—joined forces to create the Sodecia Aapico JV, combining decades of engineering expertise and manufacturing excellence. Their joint investment demonstrates confidence in South Carolina’s workforce, logistics advantages, and rapidly expanding electric vehicle and advanced manufacturing sectors.
