Stennis Technology Park is set to receive a significant boost with a $3 million grant from the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA). This Phase III investment will facilitate the development of two fully prepared industrial sites equipped with essential infrastructure and pad-ready areas.
The project aims to enhance the park’s appeal to businesses, spurring economic growth and job creation in Hancock County. The grant funding will be instrumental in accelerating project timelines and maximizing the economic impact of this investment.
Key Project Highlights:
- Site Preparation: The grant will support essential site preparation activities, including grading, leveling and utility extensions.
- Pad-Ready Sites: The project will create two pad-ready sites, accommodating buildings of 31,200 and 21,200 square feet.
- Infrastructure Improvements: Critical infrastructure upgrades, such as improved road access, parking lots, water and sewer lines, and drainage systems, will be implemented.
“We are grateful for Governor Reeves and Mississippi Development Authority’s continued support to grow our sites in Hancock County and the Mississippi Gulf Coast that make us the cornerstone of Mississippi’s Aerospace Industry. The timing of this award is critical, as Phase I is under construction and Phase II is out for bid currently, so we will work diligently to assign these funds for design and proceed to construction in 2025.”, stated Blaine LaFontaine, Executive Director of Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission.
Hancock County is committed to leveraging this opportunity to position the Stennis Technology Park as a prime location for economic development and business growth with new marketing packages for targeted industries including blue economy, aerospace and aviation technology companies, and unmanned systems. By expediting the development process and installing essential infrastructure, the county aims to attract businesses seeking a strategic location and a business-friendly environment.
Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission (HCPHC) has received significant investment for Stennis Technology Park through the Gulf Coast Restoration Fund and RESTORE Act. A total of $6.6 million was allocated for Phase I development, while an additional $2.0 million was designated for essential engineering, design, and site development work for Phase II.
