Creating 209 Jobs to Meet Industrial Project Demand
WALKER, La. — Global industrial services firm The Shaw Group is more than doubling the workforce at its Walker, Louisiana manufacturing facility to support rising demand tied to major industrial and infrastructure projects across the state and Gulf Coast region. The expansion is expected to create 209 new direct jobs and retain 165 existing positions in Livingston Parish.
The new roles will offer an average annual salary of $62,831, approximately 40% above the parish average wage, further strengthening the Capital Region’s industrial workforce. According to Louisiana Economic Development (LED), the project is also expected to generate 288 indirect jobs, bringing the total potential employment impact to 497 new opportunities.
The workforce expansion will occur at Shaw’s pipe fabrication and specialty services facility located at 30103 Sunland Drive in Walker, a site recognized for its advanced technical capabilities supporting large-scale industrial manufacturing.

The Shaw Group provides full-scale project delivery, advanced module fabrication, and precision pipe fabrication and bending services for clients worldwide. The Walker facility plays a critical role in supporting projects in power generation, oil and gas, data centers and other industrial sectors.

Bourgeois. “This expansion reflects the strength of our project pipeline and the readiness of Louisiana’s workforce to perform at scale.”
Company leaders say the hiring surge reflects sustained project demand and a long-term commitment to Louisiana’s industrial base.
“We’re excited to welcome new team members to our Walker fabrication facility as we continue to grow,” said Rhett Phillips, U.S. Pipe Fabrication Operations Vice President. “This is a great opportunity for skilled professionals to build rewarding careers and be part of an operation that is investing in its people and its future.”
Hiring is expected to begin immediately, with the company actively recruiting skilled trades and technical professionals.
Public-Private Partnership Drives Expansion
To secure the expansion, Louisiana offered a competitive incentives package that includes workforce development support through LED FastStart, the state’s nationally recognized training program. The Shaw Group is also expected to participate in Louisiana’s High Impact Jobs Program.
Local and regional leaders emphasized the project’s importance to Livingston Parish’s economic momentum.
“Their commitment speaks volumes about the confidence they have in our community and workforce,” said Livingston Parish President Randy Delatte, noting the project represents strong public-private collaboration and quality job creation.
Economic development organizations across the region credited the expansion as an example of how major statewide projects generate local supplier and service opportunities.
