SHREVEPORT, La. — G-Unit Film & Television Louisiana, LLC (“G-Unit”) and the State of Louisiana have finalized an agreement supporting a transformative, multi-phase entertainment redevelopment project in downtown Shreveport. The initiative represents more than $124 million in private investment and is designed to revitalize underutilized assets while strengthening Louisiana’s film, television, and live entertainment ecosystem.
An independent economic impact study commissioned by G-Unit estimates the project will generate $18.8 billion in statewide economic impact, support more than 6,000 jobs, and produce approximately $300 million in wages over the next 20 years.
“North Louisiana is on the rise, and we’re thrilled to welcome yet another project that recognizes the strength, talent, and potential of this region,” said Governor Jeff Landry. “Over the past 23 months, my administration has worked to build the most competitive business environment in the country. This announcement is another clear sign that our momentum is real, with wins spanning every corner of the state and every industry.”
Downtown Shreveport Entertainment District
The redevelopment plan includes three major components, all located in downtown Shreveport:
- Renovation of the former Stageworks facility to support live events and production-related entertainment uses
- Modernization of the former Millennium Studios campus to expand film and television production capabilities
- Construction of a dome-style immersive entertainment venue and adjacent green space park
Together, the projects are expected to drive tourism, attract new productions, expand digital media capabilities, and position Northwest Louisiana as a destination for large-scale entertainment and cultural events.
“This project represents the fulfillment of a long-term commitment I’ve made to the City of Shreveport and the State of Louisiana,” said Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, owner of G-Unit Film & Television. “By reinvesting in downtown Shreveport and upgrading existing assets into state-of-the-art entertainment and production facilities, we’re creating jobs, inspiring confidence, attracting new productions, and giving the industry a reason to build its future right here. My goal is to make Northwest Louisiana a premier national destination for film, music, and live entertainment. All roads lead to Shreveport.”
State Support and Oversight
As part of the agreement, Louisiana Economic Development (LED) has entered into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement providing up to $50 million in performance-based funding for eligible infrastructure and modernization improvements across the three project sites. State support is contingent on measurable economic impact, local business participation, and the delivery of infrastructure improvements.
“Northwest Louisiana continues to demonstrate its role as a center for creative and economic opportunity,” said LED Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois. “Revitalizing these facilities will unlock new entertainment industry opportunities—including motion picture production, job creation, and private investment—while strengthening resources available to companies and talent across Louisiana.”
To ensure transparency and accountability, the Shreveport Film & Entertainment Economic Development Corporation has been established to provide oversight of the project and state funding. Its board includes representatives appointed by the Governor, Legislature, and LED.
