Food fibers manufacturer to create 40 new jobs in rural South Carolina
COLUMBIA, S.C. — JGB Brothers LLC announced plans to establish manufacturing operations in Bamberg County, South Carolina, investing $7 million and creating 40 new jobs as part of the company’s U.S. expansion strategy.
The company will locate its new facility at 66 Innovation Drive in Bamberg, with operations expected to be online in late 2026.
JGB Brothers is a subsidiary of InterFiber, a family-owned manufacturer headquartered in Poland with more than 20 years of experience developing innovative food fiber solutions. InterFiber’s products are designed to enhance nutritional value while improving efficiency and reducing production costs across food manufacturing processes.
The Bamberg County facility will produce plant-sourced food fibers used as functional additives in human and pet food, with additional applications across cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and building materials. The investment supports the company’s initial U.S. manufacturing footprint and positions South Carolina as a strategic hub for future growth.
As part of the project, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded a $200,000 Set-Aside grant to Bamberg County to assist with building improvements.
“The InterFiber Group proudly announces a major milestone with the acquisition of a new manufacturing site in Bamberg, South Carolina,” said Jacek Bednarek, president of InterFiber. “This project represents a long-term investment strategy that will ultimately exceed $36 million and include fully robotic production lines and a modern R&D and application center. The facility will generate quality jobs and utilize locally sourced agricultural raw materials, with completion anticipated in 2026.”
State and local leaders highlighted the project’s importance to South Carolina’s agribusiness and advanced manufacturing sectors.
“South Carolina’s skilled workforce and business-friendly environment continue to attract companies like JGB Brothers,” said Henry McMaster, Governor of South Carolina. “The creation of 40 new jobs in Bamberg County will provide meaningful opportunities for hardworking South Carolinians.”
“We are proud to welcome JGB Brothers to our state,” said Harry M. Lightsey III, Secretary of Commerce. “This investment strengthens two of South Carolina’s key industries—manufacturing and agriculture—while supporting rural economic growth.”
“JGB Brothers’ investment will expand South Carolina’s agribusiness industry and serve existing food processing operations across the state,” said Hugh Weathers, Commissioner of Agriculture.
Local officials emphasized the project’s impact on Bamberg County and the broader Southern Carolina region.
“Bamberg County welcomes JGB Brothers and appreciates their investment in our community and our people,” said Michelle Martin. “Good jobs are essential to building strong communities, and we look forward to supporting the company’s success here.”
“We are excited to welcome JGB Brothers to the Southern Carolina region,” said Steve Murdaugh, chairman of SouthernCarolina Alliance. “This project highlights the strength of our workforce, the value of regional collaboration, and the continued success of our economic development efforts.”
